Freeze dried in capsule form
The Açaí berry is freeze dried after harvesting in order to preserve all of the amazing qualities of the fruit. It is gaining worldwide recognition for its strong concentration of anthocyanins, a powerful antioxidant with up to 33 times the amount found in red wine grape, and for its high levels of cholesterol fighting fatty acids - Omega 6 and Omega 9. The potent antioxidants in Açaí help to repair cell damage, improve circulation and fight off free radicals and pathogens.
Two major factors in heart disease are high cholesterol levels, especially the harmful LDL cholesterol, and the condition of the interior wall of the arteries themselves. The Omega 6 and 9 fatty acids in Açaí are known to lower LDL cholesterol while maintaining the beneficial HDL cholesterol. Açaí’s abundant powerful antioxidants help prevent destructive free radical damage to connective tissues, help repair and maintain the integrity of blood vessel walls and limit the effect of premature aging.
Is the Açaí berry really a super fruit?
The Açaí’s antioxidants were measured at the University of Florida in a study conducted in 2006 for its supposed “Super Fruit” status. The Açaí berries triggered a self-destruct response in up to 86% of leukaemia cells cultured in test tubes in a 24-hour period.
Although the study was a cell-culture model, scientists believe that compounds which show good activity against cancer cells in a model system are more likely to have beneficial effects in our bodies.
